It is kind of funny to see the topic of exploratory programming popping up, and even with lisp/emacs, again. Maybe some new variation of Smalltalk will follow? This is no critique, I'm all for such tools, used them. For certain classes of problems Jupyter/Zeppelin or live coding environments helped with exploration. Some argue that searching solution spaces with AI support will make exploration easier, an open question.
