Upgrade capitalism (x.com)
Not sure where I heard it but someone said that the most difficult thing about the internet is all these people making claims all the time. I think the „upgrade capitalism“ is such bold claim. At least on the retro PGF side, I feel like it kinda destroys the otherwise nicely built branding. RetroPGF is a better way to airdrop to an ecosystem. And this is good. There is nothing wrong with that. But nothing about any of this is upgrading capitalism. In fact, I doubt any one person can upgrade capitalism. It makes me cynical when I hear this because I feel like this person cannot be intellectually honest. +1. If I were someone who doesn't know Optimism after hearing such a phrase, I'd think they're some delusional crypto people. I think saying something like: "We are using RetroPGF to fill the gaps on OP that are created by traditional capitalistic market mechanisms" would be much more honest. But "Upgrade capitalism" will generate more clicks, I guess. Ya but even that is too charitable. I think u can totally explain retro pgf within the Capitalism 1.0 frame work, I don‘t see anything that‘d be a version upgrade And if you read someone like Yanis Varoufakis or Mark Fisher, you might even start doubting whether we're still operating under capitalism to begin with. Capitalism might have upgraded itself already to something worse. Either way, such big word framing is a huge turn-off. What's next? The Superchain Manifesto? :D yea sound silly but what ever its an attention economy. For a project to survive and succeed it needs attention. Putting out a rando statement like this and then we chit chat about it is better than feeding all the influencers. @0xA00c There's something in that. I listened to a podcast a few days ago, and the title was "Being like Connor McGregor". The author started with: "Well, this title is clickbaity because I don't recommend trying to be like someone else. The title should've been >>Techniques and methods Connor McGregor used to become a UFC champion that you can use in your life<<. But then it would be boring, and fewer people would click on it, and I believe it's a valuable material, so I want as many people to click on it as possible". And I agree that sometimes you need to add more spice to your soundbites or titles. I just think OP added so much of it that the dish they serve is now hard to recognize.
