What's your take on this? Is it just another wild speculation, or could he be the one? And does it even matter?

Wait the movie claims that Peter Todd is Satoshi? lol

> Meanwhile, there is this anonymous figure who likely controls, or very possibly controls, a massive share of it — a million or so bitcoin. This is probably why people feel it matters. Besides that obviously they want to have a scoop for their publicity. Or even better, a controversy.

The timing of all of these crypto documentaries is pretty cringe. You can see that they were all planning and feverishly working on these to release them right „during the next cycle“

I mean Satoshi has not moved his coins in ages so I don't feel people should worry all that much about it. There's enough other topics to make documentaries about. Personally I think there's nothing wrong with not knowing, if anything it adds to the appeal and probably to the spirit of "decentralization". Also Satoshi whoever he/she/they might be had a strong desire for privacy - we could just respect that? Outrageous idea these days, I know.

If I had to make a bet on Polymarket I'd put my chips on Hal Finney. All other options seem unlikely to me. And I second naomiii's comment that Satoshi being this mysterious anon figure is a great part of the decentralization culture.

Could it be that Satoshi is the most famous anonymous person ever? It maybe the reason why people are trying to uncover it. People can't comprehend a person being this famous and still we know so little about them. Plus the implications it could have for the ecosystem. Imagine that their wallet gets in the hands of someone evil, they could pull Bitcoin's reputation down and do even more damage.

I think Satoshi and Banksy might be the two most famous anons ever. And Banksy is still active so I imagine it must've been much harder to stay anon. Some people say it's a risk that one day Satoshi will move these coins (I even wrote a short story about it), but if I were to bet, these coins won't be ever moved because Satoshi is dead or - being aware of this risk - destroyed the seed phrases.
