๐ฅ ๐ฅ ๐ ๐ฏ ๐คญ My 2 cents as someone who has been co-living for 8+ years. First of all, agree that it can get tough. I have lived with friends where each one of us have a strong personality, and when we had no system, it was very easy to end up finger pointing. So we created a system where we print sheets with a task such as "getting out trash" or "emptying the dishwasher". On each sheet there are our names, and you cross one "X" next to your name when you do the task. The guiding principle is that the person who should do the task is the person with the least Xs. This incentivizes us to do the chores regularly, because no one wants to have to empty the dishwasher when they have other plans. A more complicated challenge are these non-standard things. So we have a parallel points system where majority needs to agree how much is something worth. So when our washing machine broke down, I had to spend some time trying to fix it, then call the repair guy, then find a new washing machine, and bring it home. I have proposed it's worth 5 points, and everyone agreed it's a fair value for that amount of work. BTW found the whole idea interesting but idk how it's related to Ethereum :) I think we could argue that just like private goods are Ethereum-adjacent, so is protocol-based thinking? ๐ฅ ๐ฅ ๐ ๐ฏ ๐คญ TBH, I wondered whether the public goods initiatives like Octant, Gitcoin, Protocol Guild etc already contain rewards for chores? To have these protocolized seems to be an adequate approach, something like the tea protocol (https://tea.xyz/) for open-source software appeared very late. ๐ฅ ๐ฅ ๐ ๐ฏ ๐คญ | |
