gm, if you're a newcomer to our Daily Discussion thread, this is a place where we discuss all Ethereum topics, news, events. And sometimes even things that are not directly Ethereum-related :) ๐ฅ ๐ฅ ๐ ๐ฏ ๐คญ Today's prompt: What could EF do for dapp builders? Before I went for vacation, I had a call with @chaskin.eth. He's very determined to make dapp builders' lives better, and I shared a few ideas with him: - influence the ecosystem to fix the mobile wallets UX, - include dapp builders in the protocol upgrade process, - promote Ethereum apps via EF channels: both big ones as well as smaller but legit ones like Kiwi. Wondering if you agree with these points or would like to add something more? I will make sure that Jason reads this discussion, so he can send it to other EFers. ๐ฅ ๐ฅ ๐ ๐ฏ ๐คญ What could EF do for dapp builders? I think there needs broad coordination around improving the price to fee ratio of Ethereum. I commented about this already here to answer to Dankrad: https://news.kiwistand.com/stories?index=0x67d40443f9896217fee61034f25f00cf170b1f8f60cd3ae3993edb60686e1abeeba9ced3#0x67d45e0ffe5ee152890c06aa26158f95c4fab7c9c1a33096fb6804c2d1918184a4b05f9b But IMO Dankrad is also missing many things. If we cannot attract consumers, and if there's a lot of seasonality in making profits from gambling (memecoins), then we also have to reach out for other groups of people who want to use Ethereum in alternative ways. At the moment we're also abandoning these with being too DeFi/Memecoin-casion centric. I complained about this here: https://ethereum-magicians.org/t/eip-7623-increase-calldata-cost/18647/49?u=timdaub It's not an option to just increase Ethereum's fees anymore, we have to find more people who are using the data availability pipeline and the L1 sustainably. Reducing friction in wallets is one way in that direction. But I think we also have to do some soul searching on what use cases aren't full scam but that we also still want to serve and economically develop. E.g. it seems as if no one in Ethereum is giving a fuck about NFTs, yet they've always been around and people liked them, and they've been an onboarding technology. E.g. to characterize NFTs as "shitty memecoins" is unfair because Memecoins are just built to rug people. But people still do legit cool things with NFTs. But e.g. the L2 devs do not give a shit about NFTs. There is no economic development happening around this. Just an example of what I mean... ๐ฅ ๐ฅ ๐ ๐ฏ ๐คญ | |
