Bitcoin Zero-Knowledge Rollup Citrea Raises $2.7M in Seed Funding

Chainway Labs is building Citrea, which it says will be the first zero-knowledge rollup for Bitcoin, and has raised $2.7 million in a seed round led by Galaxy Ventures. Other participants include Delphi Ventures, Eric Wall, co-founder of the Taproot Wizards NFT project, and Anurag Arjun, co-founder of Avail. Citrea will be based on the Ethereum virtual machine, so developers should be able to port applications built for Ethereum, and co-founder Orkun Mahir Kılıç says the 12-person team plans to release a test network next quarter.
