ERC proposal: Cross-Chain Messaging Gateway
AI summary of the linked articleERC-7786 is a Draft proposal, authored by Francisco Giordano, Hadrien Croubois, Ernesto Garcia and CJ Cobb, that defines a standard interface for smart contracts to send arbitrary data through cross-chain messaging protocols. The proposal aims to make such protocols accessible through this interface, natively or via adapter gateways, to improve composability and reduce vendor lock-in. Its core interface includes a sender-side gateway that implements sendMessage and emits a MessagePosted event, and a receiver interface whose executeMessage function must be implemented by the receiving contract. Senders and receivers are identified with CAIP-10 account identifiers, and the payload is opaque bytes. |
1 comment I'm kinda not convinced about any of these cross-chain solutions as my fundamental requirement is that I want to be able to send an entire transaction envelope originating from one chain into the other one. With Kiwi News delegations, for example, you need the message sender to be the owner of the NFT and so this is incompatible with 99% of account abstraction or cross-chain standards. |
