Galen Wolfe-Pauly Doesn’t Want Your Data

Galen Wolfe-Pauly, co-founder of Tlon, is building Urbit, a personal server system that lets users run their own apps and services instead of relying on companies such as Google, Facebook, and Apple. He says Urbit developed from a personal project of his former co-founder, with Tlon formed in late 2013 to make it useful. The article reports that Urbit and affiliated projects have received funding from PayPal co-founder and Palantir co-founder Peter Thiel, and that the number of active users continues to grow.
