It's crazy to me that everybody copies the tipping thing now as if what Degen did serves utility at the end of the day. Is everyone just delusional or incentivized to shill? Where has the tipping of a daily allowance served the actual utility of a network? People will *say* that higher memes are nice or whatever. Or they will *say* that Degen has a recognizable brand or that Farcaster DAU numbers are up. But really? Like, try to explain this to an uninvolved family member, and wouldn't it quickly set in that all of it is a very shady scam? But this trend, as with every other, will run out of steam eventually, and then what? Aren't Lens, Friend Tech, etc., all ghost towns? Somehow, it's not at all about the technology or the utility that airdropping the token creates for the network. All of it is about creating a game for people to airdrop to those who engage quite actively with the system. But I'd posit that 90% of the reason people are launching these systems isn't to "tip for good casts or music." The point here is to create a slightly more exciting narrative compared to the regular token launch. If anything, maybe by dispersing the token to as many "active addresses" as possible, the chance of one a-hole to dump on everyone is slightly lower, and so that's what the "proof of work" eventually solves.
