Despite the clickbait-y title it's a good read, and yes, every site that wants to be sure its content is actually read should offer it. Notifications thru email and social media are still way too much effort on the reader/consumer side.
I really like the cleanness of RSS - you only get content you subscribe to, and there's no social media noise. My biggest concern with subscribing to things, though - whether via RSS or newsletter - is that the quality of content varies. So, for example, I might subscribe to blogger X, but I don't want to read all of their posts, only the best ones. A strong advantage of social media is that it provides a social filter. If my blogger X shares their essay on Twitter, I can see how many likes & comments it received and use this information to decide if I want to read it. I think the power of Kiwi & HackerNews is that they provide this social filter for content without the social media chaos.
Works beautifully for me with Thunderbird and View as HTML feature.
Hey @casedup.eth, does it mean that with Thunderbird you can check RSS feeds inside your e-mail inbox?
Within Thunderbird itself the RSS feeds have their own section. Pretty clean btw, will take a screenshot when I get home.
