Newly released Satoshi emails reveal a treasure trove of early Bitcoin lore (cointelegraph.com)
“The coins are gradually being released to the networks nodes based on the CPU power they contribute. You can get a share of them just by installing the software and contributing your idle CPU time.” I did know this, but it is still interesting to realize that the idea was that people at large would community mine Bitcoin with their idle CPU time just at home, contrary to the industrial scale mining which is today norm. Who remembers SETI@home? Help discover alien life by crunching radio data on your home computer. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/SETI@home I guess Satoshi had envisioned something like that reading from this email. (But we don’t know for sure, were they really so naive?) Who is still mining Bitcoin in their bedroom or kitchen? 😁
