Regenerative Finance (ReFi)

Regenerative finance (ReFi) is a set of blockchain-based tools and ideas aimed at building regenerative economies rather than extractive ones, with value creation decoupled from unsustainable resource extraction. The article says ReFi draws on John Fullerton's regenerative economics, which proposes eight interconnected principles of systemic health. A major focus is tokenizing carbon credits: it describes the voluntary carbon market as suffering from fragmented liquidity, opaque transactions, high fees, slow trading and limited scalability, and says blockchain-based digital carbon markets can address these problems.
