The Server Called Paranoia

The United States designated Autistici/Inventati, an Italian hacker collective, a Specially Designated Global Terrorist on August 26, 2026, and the temporary authorization for institutions to wind down their relationships with it expires on September 25. The collective, known as A/I, began in 2001 when a group in Milan, with Florentine partners, set up the server Paranoia, and it has since offered websites, private email, mailing lists and other communications tools without advertising. By 2003 it hosted more than 2,000 users, 205 websites and 269 discussion lists. The collective's position is that providing infrastructure is not the same as authoring everything transmitted through it.
