It hit hard because my approach since 2014, when I started working with comms, has been to build a reasonable voice and play it quite safely. It worked for me quite well but I agree with Lulu that it creates other risks - of not cutting through the noise. And you can take risky comms bets without compromising on intellectual honesty - e.g., by calling out the elephant in the room.
