I disagree with this take but I found it interesting. The reason I disagree is that every social network started with a niche. Facebook with Harvard students, Twitter with SV tech people, Discord with gamers, etc. So why would we ditch our crypto niche and try to address normies? Especially when people in crypto are multi-dimensional and don't talk about crypto 24/7 - farcaster channels are a great example of that. Btw, I think FC actually tried already to scale beyond crypto topics with channels. And so I think that criticism is a bit uninformed. > why should i, a normal person seeking entertainment on the internet, care? IMO, this always comes down to who you wanna cater to and what the implicit assumptions are. For Kiwi News, we don't even want to serve anyone outside of crypto at this point as we're building a decentralized Hacker News as of now. So we're catering to regular Ethereum crypto users and we have some work to do before we truly saturate that market. | |
