These claims from the Bitcoin miners were interesting - stabilizing the grid, using renewable energy that would go to waste, relying on renewables. Does anyone know how true they are?
It is hard to tell. Both the miners and Greenpeace have their own biases. I would love to read a truly independent report on Bitcoin mining. One thing, you could also question if this renewable energy really goes to waste otherwise. I know in the Netherlands Meta and other big tech are accused of their data centers are using up the country’s green energy to greenwash themselves.
