> Why: Tucker Carlson’s Signal was hacked. This is the one thing the privacy maxi doesn't want to admit or acknowledge: that basically none of this matters anyway if you run on any commodity software other than, idk, the Graphene OS that you've personally reviewed all the source code from and that you've compiled from source, too. That said, it, of course, includes not only the privacy maxi being perfectly paranoid with their system at all times, but it also means that everyone who talks to them is. If there's just one weak link in their chain/network of communication, then the entire scheme collapses, and the context has lost its integrity.

Yeah, but the same can be said about the things you believe in as well. Unless you have a DeGoogled Phone or Linux, you don't own the private keys to your farcaster account

What makes you confident a DeGoogled Phone or Linux cannot be hacked? I wouldn't be so sure about that.

Nothing is perfect. Open source is a step in the right direction. Would ETH have value if it was closed source?

Actually the Signal desktop app has a significant security issue regarding encryption of stored data: Messages and other data in the Signal desktop app are not encrypted at rest in a meaningful way. While the local database is technically encrypted using SQLCipher, the encryption key is stored in plaintext in a config file on the same device. This means anyone with access to the device can easily decrypt and access all stored Signal messages and data. If your computer login is well secured and your disk is encrypted and you’re the only one on it, this shouldn’t be a problem, otherwise I would not use the desktop app. (I’m not using it, just to be safe.) https://forum.endeavouros.com/t/signal-under-fire-for-storing-encryption-keys-in-plaintext-in-desktop-app/57838
