I get his points, but I think the tide is shifting. Many young people I know are more private about their Internet life than we were. So, instead of sharing stories with everyone on Instagram, they DM them to people of choice (or just use Snapchat). They also don't post on Twitter/FB-like broadcast apps, they are more prone to use messengers. Many of them don't care about building an audience anymore. This approach is more natural in the sense that IRL audiences also work in a more cozy way — you meet your friends and show them pictures from your trip or tell them a story about your life.
