Personally I don’t feel artists are leaving fc (but they are), it is more that they didn’t really arrive. A lot of artists came in when the $degen hype was gaining momentum, coinciding with the introduction of frames, which seemed very appealing. But they just did not stick around, especially when the hype came down. I think it is also due to the small audience, fc is still a total niche. Promoting yourself online is a lot of work, since attention, being the most valuable asset on the internet, is hard to get and even harder to retain. Better focus your energy on where the most people are. It again proves also how hard it is to get people to a new social app, even when it is obviously much better technically for your purposes and better ideologically aligned.

What‘s happening that they say that artists aren‘t happy on Warpcast? The underlying reason is always around the corner. Are people not minting as many NFTs as before? We also saw a huge dropoff in October and can‘t explain it to ourselves. Maybe this is that same sentiment hitting them

I think part of it is the slump in the NFT market, but on the other hand that has been gradually deteriorating since mid-2022, so not a sudden shock that would explain the drop-off. There have been other ways of minting and propagating art NFT like Zora and Rodeo. They’re catching on, but also not massively. I don’t know. It is surely it is not only artists that are dropping off. What is quite interesting that Zora and Rodeo did also not crush the Tezos art market, which has actually recently bloomed up. (Both competing on low transaction fees, if that is still a thing lol.) But looking at Tezos art space, it is such strong culture, it sticks. Maybe that is what still is missing on fc. Just guessing that the degen culture had a boom on fc, but as degens are, they’re always looking for the next opportunity. Not really a basis to build something that sticks.

Btw when they say artist are not happy on Warpcast, they probably mean, they feel not seen and feel they are casting into the void. They want to have likes! And they’re not getting enough of them. And of course building your followers from scratch, if you already have a lot of followers on X is kind of hard and cringy feeling. As with most culture stuff and with art especially it’s about image and possible coolness. (What builders call brand lol.)
