I often wonder if I'm in the wrong industry. Take SpaceX for example. They send a rocket to Mars? Humanity advances. They fail to send one and blow it up? Humanity learns a lesson and advances. All outcomes lead to progress. In contrast, crypto is a damn casino for dum-dums (apologies to the select few). Number go up? Yay, when lambo. Number go down? Lives get wrecked. Where's the contribution to humanity? Yes, it takes time to "build a new monetary system". For sure... but how about we make a few useful things along the way? Everyone is so focused on becoming the next V that nobody wants to build useful stuff, everyone's in it for value extraction. I don't really see *why* this system should not collapse? What would we lose in the grand scheme of things? All crypto achieved was a huge value transfer, but I fail to see any value creation thus far. Mind you, making it big by luck and moving your funds into some non crypto venture is not a success story for crypto. It at best is a success story for a philanthropic lucky person, but more likely a simple diversification of said person. IMO it's past time this industry creates something genuinely useful that people want to use, or should just close up shop. Bitcoin at least tries (and fails) to be a safe haven asset. But the rest are all selling shovels with no gold rush in sight.
Just topped up my Gnosis card with a single prompt to @askginadotai Usually topping up @gnosispay is a 3+ step process: → Bridge to Gnosis chain (and make sure you have gas) → Swap to country specific stablecoin → Send to card wallet Today: One prompt. Done. ✅ Gina handled the cross-chain swap + transfer automatically.
↩ (@cburniske) I'm feeling quite unhappy about with "this cycle’s celebrity experimentation" so far. "Financialization as a means toward an end", I can respect if the end is worthy (healthcare, open source software, art, etc). Financialization *as the final product*, 🤮 Ashton and Mila's Stoner Cats was vastly more honorable than anything we've seen from this 2024 celebrity memecoin era - at least there was an actual show being funded. How do we push things in a better direction?
Zora has received OP Retrofunding for our contributions to the superchain. This would not have been possible without you, and we will be distributing 300K OP to our community. If you create on Zora, if you collect on Zora, if you build on Zora — you will be rewarded.
Yesterday at @OctantApp Spaces we got asked why people should support Kiwi. Here's more or less what we said: We all know that ETH conferences are great - we are consuming quality content, discussing it with friends, and meeting new, interesting people. Going back to Twitter after an ETH conference is like a watching a grotesque American high school movie after seeing Lord of the Rings. Instead of deep, nuanced debates, most of the conversation is ran by attention-seeking, "look how cool I am" takes and rage baits. This is why KOLs are more popular than OG builders. This is why bad tech gets attention. And this is why Solana and more centralized chains succeed with their carefully crafted narratives. Generally speaking, Twitter with its virality-oriented algorithm, never ending stream of news, and Solana manlets doing DDoS attacks on our attention, is not a good place to follow most important things in Ethereum. And this is why since 2023 we've been building Kiwi. Kiwi is a place where Ethereum builders can find their alpha. Every day we serve them new curated essays, talks, GitHub repos, Dune dashboards and products. Our community members discuss the content in the comments section and our groupchat, and you can always find help - even if you think it's too niche or technical, we probably have someone who can point you in the right direction. In the meantime, you meet other founders, devs & operators who are serious about Etheruem. Kind of like an ETH conference, but online. If you think this kind of place can be useful for our ecosystem, then you might want to support Kiwi in the current Octant round. Plus, we are just two guys who rejected VC funding and been running it based on our savings, grants and some revenue. So every donation matters a lot. PS: We shared the link to our Octant page in the first comment. PS2: It doesn't mean that the Ethereum community shouldn't use Twitter. We should, because this is where we can reach millions of people. But we could treat it more like a megaphone to spread messages, and less like a forum to share half-baked thoughts, where concerned Solana investors are just waiting to dunk on us.
1/ An investigation into how the New York based social engineering scammer Daytwo/PawsOnHips (Christian Nieves) stole $4M+ from Coinbase users by impersonating customer support, bought luxury goods, and lost most of the funds gambling at casinos.
